3D Challenge #032 - Ray gun

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Ray gun

After a challenge with present day military technology, we're going into the future this week. The challenge is to design or recreate a futuristic ray gun. Ray guns are weapons which emits energy in an aimed direction without the means of a projectile. Instead, it transfers energy directly to a target for the desired effect. This energy could be anything like sound, light, plasma, particle beams, electricity or some imaginary sci-fi beam. For this challenge we will allow ray guns in all sizes and types. As these type of guns don't use projectiles there's a lot of freedom in the design. A barrel, for example, might not be necessary in your ray gun. Jump in and show us your look into the future.

Good luck ALL!

  1. General notes:

From this challenge and in the future, there will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

You can use the hyperlink code creater on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

    Good luck with the challenge...

  4. The mech subject is still on the list for future challenges, so it's not forgotten. We work with five main categories for the challenge subjects. We try to prevent to many challenges of the same category in a row to differentiate enough. Your mech subject will be put in the poll soon if the circumstances are right.

  5. Thanks everyone, for voting my model! Once again, i'm deeply honoured! This week, my poor old laptop died on me...i'm a bit sad... I couldn't compete in the carrier competition for this reason. But i'm back now, so beware, and keep up the quality!

  14. Hi fellow sketchuper's!
It's been a while since I last entered the 3d challenge, but I was in Cuba for the march brake and I was kidnaped by cubans! (there was a snow storm in ottawa so my flight was delayed for two days!)

Anyways...my sketchup skills may be a little rusty but here's my first entry, the 'Pocket Ray Gun'(consider it a work sitll in progress)

  19. Hello mr. jumpman v2,

I have no idea why you can't delete your own models. The warehouse had some issues in the past, mostly when it's being maintained. I suggest to try again in a few hours/days. I personally can't help you, I don't have any more rights in the warehouse then you have. I don't even work for Google or get paid for helping to run these challenges. It's all voluntary...
