This week's challenge:

Floating house

This week we have a challenge for the people with some architectural ambitions. We're going to design a house, but not a regular one. This house has to float on water. A floating house is a regular house build on a floating base (click here for an example of the Dutch architect Herman Hertzberger). This makes it possible to move the house to a different location and to make the house to follow the tide of the water it is positioned on. The basic concept is that the house is not ment to sail, but to stay on a location. This makes it different from houseboats which can be moved autonomous. From an architectural point of view it's interesting on how to react to the water environment instead of the normal solid ground. For this challenge the only rules are that your design may not be a boat and has to float on water. All the other aspects as architectural style, shape, scale, location, etc. are free to choose.

Good luck ALL!

  3. I'm sorry I don't have any creativity this week... High school does that to you. However, I posted a model of the hovercraft Nebuchadnezzar from The Matrix, and I've gotten no comments yet, so feedback please!
