3D Challenge #040 - Cargo Spaceship

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Cargo Spaceship

The cargo spaceship may be a necessity in due time as we will need to transport our things from one planet to another when they become habitable. For the time being, cargo spaceships are being used to transport supplies, parts and items to and from the International Space Station. Your model may be as modern, futuristic, or "Astronaut Farmer" as you like. Have fun with it and use your imagination!

Good Luck and Happy Sketching!

  1. General notes:

From this challenge and in the future, there will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

You can use the hyperlink code creater on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

    Good luck with the challenge...

  4. OK..did you guys notice what model has the most votes on the boat challenge?....THIS BS cannot continue.I know this type of voting is flowed but this is too stupid.
I think that a panel of judges should be organised that will give a number of points to the models, separate from the poll and the result should be seen in camparison.
    1st 2nd 3rd place Judges' pick and People's Choice
I think this would be the best solution without major changes to the voting system and fair that would show Objective voting and Subjective voting.
If this situation remains i guarantee that no self respecting modeler will remain to participate.

  5. wow... i totally agree, that dumb boat is like as good as my very first model. voting isnt workin so well so i think that the admins should do what marian said or just make it the same as last time, only one vote.

( ps. i have lost my popularity cause i havent been on recently but just cause no ones lookin id like people to check out my awsome new model called Hades. please just check it out, sorry for changing the subject =p )

  6. I have to agree with Marian and mr.jumpman v.2, there is obviously some kind of foul play going on with the voting here.

While I completely respect all the modelers who enter this challenge, the current front runner for the rowboat challenge is not even in the same league is MANY of the others.

Considering there were only 27 submissions and there are 68 votes, the speaks that some people are voting more than once.

It seems to me that we need to go back to one vote per person who entered. Opening the vote to the public seems to have compromised the enjoyment of the challenge by somehow allowing people to vote more than once either for a friend or for themselves.

  7. I agree with c.j.leigh, mr.jumpman v.2, and marian. We must to go back to the previous voting system (one vote per person who entered).

  8. I'm not necesarly suporting the one vote system, at least how it used to be...because it takes too much time for people to vote and for the admins to process...so I stand by my previous suggestion.I think the admins are the perfect judges so they could pick the best models. As i said the current public system should remain and the results should be presented in tandem.Maybe in the long run this double awarding system will detur people from being unfair as the results won't coincide if they're not fair.

  9. as i said befor i agree agian (you guys dont really need to agree agian im just saying i think we should have judges) i hope you guys like the hades model i made (to see it go to the link posted 3rd on this place)

  10. This is my first time participating in the 3D challenge....I'm not happy.

I'm not sure why the chalenge is relying on a blog poll. why cant we just rely on the 3d warehouse's star system? You can only rate once unless you have numerous google accounts and it is a safer voting system.

CJ, thanks for your comments on my model. I have already removed the center lines in my true model. I had to submit my model only partially finished anyway :P

  11. you do have a point. although you can only vote once there are people with different "popularity" levels. i have a couple times not been using sketchup and once i went back to uploading models no one knew. and also you can make multiple accounts or just ask your friends to do it. good idea but unrealiable

    mr.jumpman v.2

  12. The problem with the 1-vote star system, is that you would not be able to rate models outside of the contest if you chose to rate one in the contest., etc.
