  1. General Notes:
There will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

You can use the hyperlink code creator on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

Please refrain from using background images in your models as it is the model itself that is being judged.

You'll notice a new link on the main page that directs you to the First Place Certificate area to which winners are able to print a certificate with a picture of their model detailing their excellence. You can access the page through the main page of the blog.

  2. Hey Cosedimarco,

Great new challenge. I just have one question:

Does it have to be an model of an existing castle or can it be a new creation based on the achitecture and technology of the middle ages?

  3. @Dajani
    It could be both.
Important is that it must be from this world ;)

  6. Hi

    Nice challenge

    @ cosedimarco

are Vauban's fortress or "chateaux de la Loire" allowed ?
I'm not sure they correspond to middle age.

    cheers

This is the definition Wikipedi give about Middle Ages:"Commonly seen periodization ranges span the years ca. 400–476 AD (the sackings of Rome by the Visigoths to the deposing of Romulus Augustus)[2] to ca. 1453–1517 (the Fall of Constantinople to the Protestant Reformation begun with Martin Luther's Ninety-Five Theses)."

Google to check dates of the castle you want to model.

    @All
If you'd like to model a real Castle, please add Construction Date into the Model name, to avoid problems

  10. To me it seems like it was so much easier to make a good design on a castle then seige... i mean all the mechanics to throw a ball at this huge wall is a lot more work than designing a 5 ft thick wall.

What i am trying to say is---

Seige = Really hard to make

Castle = Really easy to design

  12. @Mr. Jumpman
Thanks but it was exactly what rubencraninx wrote in his description.

    @rubencraninx
Please remove all models/elements not made by yourself or your model can't be accepted

Could you post in the WH the skp model too?
    Thanks

  14. @Skacker
You can texture your model with real photos but you have to create and detail model first. This is a modelling challenge, and model must be judged with textures turned off.

This is due to avoid, users model a boxes and cylinder with applied beautiful photos to recreate model itself.

I hope that you are whipping up something good, to make good on that bottom spanking. Nice move! You've got me motivated again. Unless: you called me out for nothing, I sure would hate to show you what I can really do, and then scare you off. Because; if you top mine, I will bow down and grovel, then give you 5-stars over and over and over again. Good modeling, Good luck and Good day!

    @ current entrants

I think, two weeks of challenge merits more than
    1MB models,...don't you?
Not that a great model can't be only 1MB, but that isn't what I'm seeing yet.

    Black Veil Gate

I hope that I made the deadline, it is still wednesday here.

    Enjoy!

  19. @TinkerToy
Sorry but you are beyond deadline. WH said it was posted on Thursday 19th.
    Anyway, Real great model!

  20. I don't know how the calendar work where you are from, but the 19th of November is a wednesday here, not thursday. My entry was posted about one hour before the voting poll was updated. I believe that should be in time to make it into the challenge. If there is some other reason for it to not be there, tell me and I will be satisfied.

  21. @TinkerToy
Sorry but my brain is very slow early in the morning...I thought today 19th and not the 20th.

I've added an extra poll for your model.

  22. @ COSEDIMARCO

Thank you for inclucing my model. I'm sure it must be difficult to manage the blog constantly, and the difference in time of day from here to there, must add to the strain. I appreciate what the moderators do to bring the challenge to all of us. Keep up the good work.
