3D Challenge #030 - Standing clock

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Standing clock

This week we are going to model the mother of all clocks, the standing clock. You might remember that large clock in the livingroom from your grandparents that makes the house shake when it sounds. Although they might not fit in your hyper modern interior, they are very nice pieces of craftsmanship. Each clock is not only ment to be funcional, but it's also a piece of art for the livingroom or hall. For this challenge we prefer the nice details of the classic standing clocks, although we will allow every other design you can imagine. The only rule is that it has to be a clock that has to be placed on the floor. Jump in and show us the clock of your granny.

Good luck ALL!

3D Challenge #029 - Salt and pepper shakers

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Salt and pepper shakers

For this challenge we are going to model something small that can be found on almost every restaurant table, the salt and pepper shakers. The shakers on those tables are often the standard versions, but salt and pepper shakers are available in many different themes. From highly minimalistic designs to a perfect replica of your favorite cartoon character and everything in between. As the object for this challenge is quite small we expect a high level of detail. Try to make every part of the shaker as the real thing would look like, a simple cilinder is to easy of course. As everybody can imagine the properties that makes a shaker a shaker, there are no limitations for this challenge. Be creative and show us the shaker you would put on your table...

Good luck ALL!

General note: From this challenge and in the future, there will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. But do remember, posting and commenting helps build the sense of a community and sharing of ideas. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

3D Challenge #028 - Hoverbike

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Hoverbike

For the challenge this week we are going to model a hoverbike. A hoverbike is a bike-type vehicle without any wheels, it just floats in the air. For this floating you can use existing hovercraft technology, like the real hoverbike in this movie, or an imaginary sci-fi technology. The main part of your design will be influenced by the way the driver is positioned on the vehicle. In the movie the person stands on the bike, but you could also sit on a seat like in a car or lean forward like you would do on a fast motorcycle. The restrictions for this challenge are that your hoverbike should be designed for one person only and that wheels, of course, are not allowed.

Good luck ALL!

3D Challenge #027 - Next generation space shuttle

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Next generation space shuttle

The space shuttle, or Space Transportation System, was designed in the seventies and had it's maiden flight in 1981. It was the first spacecraft designed for partial reusability instead of the rockets which could only be used once. With an expected lifetime of 10 years or 100 flights, it's really getting time for a next generation version. This week the challenge is to design that next generation space shuttle. Your shuttle for this challenge has to be as versatile as the original. The most important feature is that the mayor part of the spacecraft has to be reusable. Further it must be suitable for transporting astronauts and payload, such as satellites and parts for the ISS. Jump in and show us your next generation space shuttle.

Good luck ALL!
