Since then, numerous satellites have been launched to provide in the need to communicate with each other around the world. This week we are going to model such a communication satellite. The design may be an existing communication satellite or your own imaginary design. For this challenge we won't make a difference between a normal communication satellite and a telecommunication satellite. We're looking forward to your satellite models...

This week's challenge:

Radio

For this week's challenge, we are going to model a radio. There are all kind of radios, portable radios like ghettoblasters, car radios or home theatre sets for example. The choice of the type of radio and an existing or home made design is yours. The only limitation this challenge is that every part of the radio has to be modeled. This means that all the buttons, displays and other parts have to be made from geometry, no boxes with the image of a radiofront. It's all about using the possiblities of the Sketchup tools effective.

Good luck ALL!

This week's challenge:

Bedroom Set

A bedroom set is a group of furniture sold as a unit, typically comprising a bed, nightstand, and dresser/chest of drawers (With or without mirror). The bed can include a headboard for added detail. Sometimes a set also includes a wardrobe/Armoire or a Vanity w/chair. The choices are endless. There are many types of beds that can be selected and can also include the drawer storage space as part of the bed. This is commonly seen in the bunk bed style. The choice of furniture is up to you. Make as many or few items as you like, but it should always include the Bed.

3D Challenge #010 - Three wheeled car

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Three wheeled car

Some of you may remember the little red tricycle on which you learned how to ride a bike. This week we are going to model the grown-up version of that little red bike, a three wheeled car. As usual you are free to create your own design, or to recreate an existing three wheeled car. The only rule is that your car has to have three wheels, not more not less. An interior design is allowed but not required, as the exterior might be time consuming on it's own. We are looking forward to see your vision on a three wheeled car...

Good luck all!

3D Challenge #009 - Skyscraper (exterior)

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Skyscraper

This weeks challenge will be to develop a skyscraper. This can be your own design or an existing building. Web research has defined this to be a building as short as 35 meters (115 feet). Our target will be between 80 Meters (262 feet) and 500 Meters (1640 feet). Unlike models built for Google Earth, which are primarily textured driven with basic shapes beneath, we are still interested in 3D development of a nice model. Textures will be off during judging. This will give all a chance to use repeating patterns and hole cutting components. The challenge will be more about main shape design concepts than creating a highly detailed building. Although there are guidelines via web search for multiple tower structures, choice between architectural style and number of towers are of your choice.

Good luck all!
