Challenge Period: Monday, 5 December 2016 - Sunday, 18 December 2016

Winter is almost here (at least in the northern hemisphere) and many of us can already feel it. Therefore, you have been challenged to model something relevant to upcoming season... A snowman!

Your snowman should represent something that you could create from snow; meaning it should be structurally self-supported and made of snow. Although you can do the typical three-snowball stacked version, you are encouraged to think outside-the-box. Be sure to accessorize your snowman to bring him or her to life!

The SketchUp 3D Challenge has reached the milestone of 250 challenges and I, JediCharles, have reached another milestone of having administrated the SketchUp 3D Challenge for 5 years. So, in the spirit of milestones, this challenge is to literally model milestones!

For the purposes of this challenge, you are to model a milestone and a scene to display it in. See the article below for more information on milestones.
Milestone

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A milestone is one of a series of numbered markers placed along a road or boundary at intervals of one mile or occasionally, parts of a mile. They are typically located at the side of the road or in a median. They are alternatively known as mile markers, mileposts or mile posts (sometimes abbreviated MPs). Mileage is the distance along the road from a fixed commencement point.

A transporter bridge is a rare type of bridge designed to move pedestrian and automotive traffic to the other side of a body of water in a very unique manner. It serves the function of a ferry over short distances using a platform hanging from a gantry suspended under a bridge like structure. They are designed to allow ships to pass below and as an alternative to a draw bridge or a much longer traditional bridge.

SketchUp 3D Challenge #242: Time Machine

Challenge Period: Monday, 18 July 2016 - Sunday, 31 July 2016

Time travel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Time travel is the concept of movement (such as by a human) between certain points in time, analogous to movement between different points in space, typically using a hypothetical device known as a time machine, in the form of a vehicle or of a portal connecting distant points in time. Time travel is a recognized concept in philosophy and fiction, but traveling to an arbitrary point in time has a very limited support in theoretical physics, and usually only in conjunction with quantum mechanics or Einstein–Rosen bridges. In a more narrow sense, one-way time travel into the future via time dilation is a proven phenomenon in relativistic physics, but traveling any significant "distance" requires motion at speeds close to the speed of light, which is not feasible for human travel with current technology. The concept was touched upon in various earlier works of fiction, but was popularized by H. G. Wells' 1895 novel The Time Machine, which moved the concept of time travel into the public imagination, and it remains a popular subject in science fiction.
For the purposes of this challenge you are to model a time machine based on a theoretical or fictional design or one from your own imagination. Like all challenges, you have 2 weeks until you are outta time... unless, of course, you have a time machine.

SketchUp 3D Challenge #237: Transportation Tunnel

Challenge Period: Monday, 9 May 2016 - Sunday, 22 May 2016

Transportation tunnels are often made for rail lines and roadways where above ground alternatives are not feasible or simply unwanted.

While it may sound daunting for a 3D Challenge, SketchUp has all the tools you need for such a project. And while you don't need to model an entire tunnel, it is important that you model at least one entrance into the tunnel and a sizable length of tunnel. You may model an existing tunnel or one of your own design.
