  1. General notes:

From this challenge and in the future, there will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

You can use the hyperlink code creator on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

    Good luck with the challenge!

  3. well, I've only entered a few 3d challenges so far, and the biggest reason that i enter them for is inspiration. I sometimes have sat, bored with and empty sketchup screen open, and not known what to make. Although i like the way the challenge is done, there are two issues. Firstly, there is the age old problem of making an accurate voting system, and secondly, i wish that people would rate other peoples models! i try to rate them all, and often leave comments, however it irritates me when some people only get a couple of ratings, and other people get 10-15.

  4. well that depends upon popularity, gilez.

and you dont need inspiration from the challenge, there are plenty of other places to find it. ( dont stop tho, the admins my get mad if you leave cause of me =p )

  10. The car on top took a while to make and all of my models start with a box or a line, I do not use any pre-made shapes. I am very proud of my car so please d/l my model and look at the details.
    The Prize
I would also like some feed back good or bad.

  11. Here's my entry:
    Laser-Etched Crystal 3D Challenge Trophy

Thanks to everyone for commenting so far.

Dragon Girl: The trick is in the transparent gradient textures. I just placed the logo as a component inside the "crystal".

  12. Is there a free program that can import and make nice renderings of my .skp files

    ReplyDelete
  13. I believe Kerkythea should do just that! You can get it from Kerkythea.
There is also a SketchUp exporter there so that you can import them into Kerkythea.
    Have fun!

  14. is this program reliable and safe to download?

    mr.jumpman v.2

    ReplyDelete
  15. Absolutely it is safe. I have used it for a few years now and have had no problems at all. It's fun to play around in and try real things to see if they work in the program, such as a prism. Will shining a light through a prism in KT(Short for Kerkythea) cause the color spectrum to show like in a rainbow? Make a model and try it out!

BTW, keep up the great work on the models all! Everyone's looks fantastic! I wish that all trophies looked as good as the ones that you guys have been making!

  18. IMPORTANT
    @Benjamin

Please read the guidelines of the challenge, change the name of one of your model.
Models name should be as unique as possible.

  19. @jumpman V2
    You should import XML files.

Download the "su2Kerkythea" toolbar from HERE and install it.
Set scene in Sketchup then use the first button of the toolbar (in Su) to export model into Kerkythea. Render program will start automatically.

From the Kerkythea website take a look to the Tutorial section for more infos

  21. I'm in kind of a tricky spot here...

Is there anyway to upload a model to the warehouse without having sketchup installed on my computer? I'm on an offshore oil platform and have access through the internet only through the Dubai Petroleum computers, and they are super anal about installing software on it. I'm trying to kiss butt and have them let me hook up my laptop, but no luck yet. My model isn't all that great yet, but it would still be nice to enter it...

Also, no one commented on my voting scheme that I posted on the last blog entry... Mods, any thoughts??

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hello Chris,
I don't know of any way to upload a model without Sketchup. If you were able to send it to me I would be more than happy to upload to my account for the voting, then you could upload it onto your account when you get back.
As for your voting idea, we did discuss it and agreed that it could work. We may do the voting for a challenge like that to see how it goes.
