SketchUp 3D Challenge #144 - Ultimate Doghouse

Monday, 21 May 2012 - Friday, 01 June 2012

View Entry Models | Status: Finished

I, your trusty (most of the time) challenge administrator, JediCharles, am in the doghouse this week. That's right, I completely spaced the creation of this weeks challenge in time for yesterday. So because of this, challenge #144's topic is the Ultimate Doghouse.

Use your creativity to envision and design your interpretation of the ultimate doghouse. It can be any size or shape as long it will safely and securely house man's best friend. Don't be afraid to go over the top as the only budget to contend with is your time.

3D Warehouse Tag: 3D Challenge 144

The winner of previous challenge #143 - Powertools is...
DALEXD with his STIHL Chainsaw!
Congratulations on the win and an awesome model!

  1. After looooong brake i've decided to reenter the challenge. Some may remember me.. but if not.. oh well.. here i am to remind you about my humble self.
So.. since challenge is somewhat odd, and doesn't really do justice to anyone willing to show modelling skills (i mean.. i know one could model super futuristic doghouse with ventilation, power, gas, two bathrooms and pool table, but that would be kinda overdone.. in my oppinion), i have decided that instead of trying to pick one idea of doghouse i had, i will model all three of them.
    So, here they are:
    Dogbooth
    Suspended doghouse
    Castle doghouse

  2. I have done a review of my model "Snoopy house": Revision 01 - 29/05/2012 - Here is Woodstock. He is Snoopy's closest friend.

I am being first to vote.
    Ho here we go:

3 points go to - a.j.unknow and his Snoopy house
Well.. this is that kind of modelling i'd like see always. Model is as simple as can be while still showing everything that's important.
This models LOD is a mastery!
And now comes the different part, as 2 points i would like to give to three models.. but since i must give them to only one..

2 points go to - Pantxo house of a.j.unknow
This model has different approach than all others. I like the idea. A.j.unknow is experienced modeller and it's difficult for many to compete with him in keeping model geometrically balanced.
Model is made well and it tells the story at least as good.
The only question is.. how do you pronounce "Pantxo"?

1 point goes to - Henkie Tenk and his doghouse
This model has interesting idea behind it and it's well executed.
It's not pefect, as it has some overcomplex geometry, but the main part is the idea and a way to bring it to life. Well done.

Honorable mention goes to hugly overcomplex Dog House with some facilities of Husselhann. The idea is good and if not excessive 5MB it would definitelly get a point or two.

  6. Oh yeah.. and the ideas for next challenges.
I'd like to see something like:
-old, modern and futuristic energy creating, gathering and converting machines and facilities.
-machanical insect (this one would be tricky)
-3d object set for creating system icons
