3D Challenge #011 - Bedroom Set

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Bedroom Set

A bedroom set is a group of furniture sold as a unit, typically comprising a bed, nightstand, and dresser/chest of drawers (With or without mirror). The bed can include a headboard for added detail. Sometimes a set also includes a wardrobe/Armoire or a Vanity w/chair. The choices are endless. There are many types of beds that can be selected and can also include the drawer storage space as part of the bed. This is commonly seen in the bunk bed style. The choice of furniture is up to you. Make as many or few items as you like, but it should always include the Bed.

Good luck ALL!

  2. Hello all,

The last challenge we noticed that there were a lot of models submitted in the warehouse but not on the blog (7 out of 13). As the main rules state, you have to put the model on the warehouse and a link on the blog to that model to submit a model. This way everybody can easily find your model and review it. If the link to your model changes for any reason, just put a new link on the blog.

    Thank you in advance,

    The mod-team

  3. Hello all

One of my First models when I found SketchUp well over a year ago.. I can see many of the modeling techniques I used then, I would no longer use today. It was a learning process.

As a member of the moderator team, this is not included for voting, so I opted to use this older model just as a posting of the basic of what we are looking for. This will be a good time for me to get back to it and model the bed and the TV stand.

  4. Howdy SketchUp Challenge team. I have a suggestion. I got a lot of help in the beginning on how to make tags. And its taken me a while to get it down. We had quite a few in the 3 wheel contest that must of had problems making correct tags. How about making a new column in the right side of the Blog that shows examples of how to make tags for the following. 1. tag for 3d challenge Blog. 2. tag for going to a persons Picasa example page. 3. tag to see examples on that persones SketchUp blog. I make these suggestions because I have gone to these areas of people who have been competing and have learned a lot from them. I hope this is the right place to send a suggestion.

  5. I agree Don. as for web link code I used to go through the past challenges to find the one that listed it. Now I made a copy of it and saved it as a word document. But it would be handy to have it nearby.

    And also Don.....nice model congrats.
I have been busy lately so I can spend alot of time on these renders, or my models, but they challenge me and thats how I learn.

for this challenge I am working on something unique.

  6. Tom, thanks for the render. I like the global sky it ads a nice quality to the render. I've started Kerkythea and it looks like a great program. I've been wondering if it fair for me to enter these competitions. I'm retired and can spend as much time as I wont to on these challenges. I know others have limited time. This has been a great experience for me. Can I download your render to my Blog?

  8. Hello sir LOZ

You will need to upload your model to the warehouse for judging. Currently there are only links for Google earth & Collada.

Please upload or it will not qualify for the voting.

    Thanks

  11. Hey Don, download away. and I want to see some of yours too.

As for you being retired, well I'm sure there is no rule against it. But I say you can only use your left hand and wear a patch over one eye when you're using sketchup.

    oh, and cool "pad"

  12. I agree with Tom. Left hand, eyepatch and only work when on phone.

  15. Hello Bill,

Unfortunately there is still something wong with the tags from your model in the warehouse. Please read the Challenge participation manual on how to properly tag your model when uploading to the warehouse.

very small ps.: it's challenge not challange ;)

  16. Hello Bill

The tag is in the description section. It can stay there if you like, but do need to add it to the Tags section as well.

It also needs to be spelled
    3d challenge 001 as J-M@n Pointed out.

The best way to check your tag, is view your model in the warehouse. If you click on the tag and don't see your model with the rest, something is wrong. There is also a link on the top of the blog to show all currently entered models. Again - if you click that and don't see your model, something is wrong with the tag.

    Thanks
