3D Challenge #048 - Portable DVD Player

Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.

This week's challenge:

Portable DVD Player

The portable DVD player is one of those gadgets that many people have come to love. It provides an enjoyable experience to viewers who may be on a trip somewhere, in a waiting area or on a plane. Portable DVD players are typically quite small and compact with screen sizes ranging anywhere from 4" to 10" and can have many different configurations of speakers and disc trays. You may model any type of brand or company's player, or create one from inspiration.

Have fun with this one!

P.S.: Before start modelling and posting, please, read carefully the 3D Challenge participating manual.

  1. General Notes:
There will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

You can use the hyperlink code creator on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

Please refrain from using background images in your models as it is the model itself that is being judged.

You'll notice a new link on the main page that directs you to the First Place Certificate area to which winners are able to print a certificate with a picture of their model detailing their excellence. You can access the page here or through the main page of the blog.

    Good luck with the challenge!

  7. How about something mechanical for a challenge like a crane or internal combustion engine? Also, I like that idea presented from last week about the dome house.

Your model has been done and uploaded before challenge started so it can't be added to the challenge.
    Please remove "Challenge tag".
    Thanks.

  13. I agree with Morls, now I'm super curious!

Is this a ploy so that no one can start modeling before the challenge starts? :)

Please be patient. There's a lot of things to do. I've started to prepare the first challenge winners certificate 'cause they're waiting from a long time too. ;)

  19. @ the creator and others

Don't be discouraged if you don't get too much feed back on what you should and shouldn't do to your models.

Being new to modelling and to the challenges mean that we don't know your style of modelling nor what level of modelling you are at.

If you model differently people dont want to say your doing something wrong because it may just be your stlye.

Once you have found your own way in modelling, you will be able to ask more specific questions that are more likely to be answered.

    I hope this makes sense.
