3D Challenge #054 - Helicopter

This week's challenge:

Helicopter

The Helicopter is a great engineering marvel. It looks like it shouldn't be able to fly but shows that it is a very versatile machine being able to hover on the spot, fly forward, backward, left and right. So for this weeks challenge we are going to show how versatile SketchUp is modeling the Helicopter. You may model an existing Helicopter or try to create your own. Keep in mind that your helicopter should have some sort of rotary system or spinning parts.

Snack Cart

For this challenge, it is going to be a little more "fun". We will be modeling a Snack Cart of any sort. If it is a cart, meaning that it is portable, and it has snacks on it, feel free to model it! As always, be create and have fun. Try to think of some Snack Cart needs like storage and utilities. Each type of cart is better suited toward a different type of snack and marketing so it is encouraged to try out some different types.

Have fun and don't eat all of your Snacks while modeling! Save some for the cart!

3D Challenge #052 - Transformer

This week's challenge:

Transformer

For this weeks challenge, you are to model a transformer of any sort. The main idea of this challenge is that the model MUST be a transformer! So it must be able to change from one thing to another. You must also show the transformed model. It can be one from the famous television show, Transformers, or anything that you can dream up, and yes, that includes a Mech as long as it can change into something else.
It would be ideal if your model was divided into groups and components, and that the transformation could happen by just moving and rotating the groups/components.
Creativity is a key idea in this challenge, as is the construction and precision of the transformation.

Note: A transformer should transforms itself in a common thing like car, hi-fi, gps, etc, and not in another Mech!

Space Docking Harbor

This weeks challenge is back to a space/sci-fi theme. You are to model a docking harbor for space crafts and units that wish to "park" their vessels. There is no limit to the size or capacity of the harbor, we only ask you that it will allow at least one vessel to dock at a port on in your harbor. Anything and everything else is left up to the designer.

This week's challenge:

Your own Computer rig

This is the 50th challenge so we have something special for the occasion.
This time you have to model your own complete computer rig, the one you use to model with Sketchup. You can add all the hardware connected to your Computer but keep in mind not to model the whole room.
You could try to focus on details and low filesize, working with components as much as possible.
Textures will be accepted but should be turned off during judging. Model must be realistic, not a fantasy creation.

And last but not least... this time, for the special occasion, you have 2 weeks to crate your own model.

The sport in question is fully up to you, may it be Baseball, Basketball or track and field, they all have a specific building for it to take place in. Each venue has its own details and object that others do not, so pay attention to what things may differ between venue types.

Portable DVD Player

The portable DVD player is one of those gadgets that many people have come to love. It provides an enjoyable experience to viewers who may be on a trip somewhere, in a waiting area or on a plane. Portable DVD players are typically quite small and compact with screen sizes ranging anywhere from 4" to 10" and can have many different configurations of speakers and disc trays. You may model any type of brand or company's player, or create one from inspiration.

Police stations are the homestead and briefing grounds of the Police Force. There are many Police Stations that were not only built for the Police force, but also as an architectural statement for the town or city. Some famous stations have also been converted into museums with information and records dating back to the first Police Force. You may model an existing police station, or create a unique station that may or may not have holding cells.

Communication Antenna

The communication Antenna has been almost a necessity to us and has played a major role in creating what is known as the "Global Village." These antennae may be used for Cell Phones, Radio Stations, and Television Broadcast. There are also different types of communication antennae. There are the High-gain and Low-gain which are determined by the width of the beam produced. No matter the type or style, these may becoming extinct due to satellite communication, which do use their own type of antenna. (Please do not model a satellite)

Space Rescue Pod

The challenge for this week is to model a Space Rescue Pod. These pods come in a variety of different shapes, sizes and materials but they all do the same job. There are many NASA prototypes being researched and developed that range from single person torpedo like shells, to full rescue spheres that can hold the entire crew.
For this challenge, please keep in mind that we are modeling space rescue pods, nothing else. So please try to stick to the guidelined topic and have fun. That is what it is all about!
