  1. General Notes:There will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

You can use the hyperlink code creator on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

Please refrain from using background images in your models as it is the model itself that is being judged.

You'll notice a new link on the main page that directs you to the First Place Certificate area to which winners are able to print a certificate with a picture of their model detailing their excellence. You can access the page through the main page of the blog.

    Good Luck and have fun!!!

  7. cloudedzero, it doesn't necessarily have to be a complete set, no. If you wanted to just model the helmate and chest aromor or something like that, it would be fine.

  9. I decided to go for a nice look, rather than a perfect mechanical suit. Sketchup isn't that great for this smooth curvy stuff. No distinct in- and outside layer (thickness), that just was to much work!

ALX' Armor@all: ;) i expected more models by now! Or is everybody still working hard on their suits?

  12. I am starting a new SketchUp challenge similar to the Google SketchUp 3D Challenge called the SketchUp Design Challenge using Facebook Pages and I am looking for people who would be interested in participating. These challenges will not be about modeling a specific type of object or building, rather, they will be about designing something that solves a specific problem. For example, I may ask you to take one object and modify it to suit another purpose. For another example, I might ask you to use the built in feature set of SketchUp to reproduce some recognizable theatrical effect (much like the Star Wars Crawl I recreated in SketchUp).

I would like all who are interested in participating to "become a fan" of the Facebook page I have set up for the SketchUp Design Challenge at http://tinyurl.com/sudesignchallenge. Challenges will begin once I can recruit enough interested participants. I will send out an update to "fans" to announce the first challenge when it begins and will send updates announcing future challenges from then on. In the meantime, please take a moment to take the poll on the left hand column of the page to help determine how often new challenges will start and for how long they will last. Also, feel free to post suggestions on possible challenge subjects and anything else you'd like to see in the discussion forum for the page.

I like the thorax and the attributes! Good work

    2: 14h century armor by a.j.unknow
Nice clean model and the signs are really cool. But the helmet is a bit weird.

    1: Midevil Armor by Wulf
Good model, especially for your first entry. I don't think you were unfamiliar with SU? Is it? Did you start with an other name?

it was the only one that I really liked the design of, though it has no thickness, which I always hate.
(though I acknowledge it would be very hard to do with thickness)

    2:Armor on display_byALX
I like the Mace, I like it when people make chain!
and the torso was also good.

Very good for a beginner(at least I hope your a beginner), you get points for the most holdable sword, the others had most uncomfortable grips.

I would have voted for 14h century armor by a.j.unknow, how ever, I did not like the design, it was a better Model than Wulf's... I hope you don't stone me...

  19. Thanks for the vote, AJ Unknown.

I've watched the link of your helmet, and you were right. It's how it has to be. You did a good job. But I meant it more like: I think the helmet is ugly, and not the way you designed it, but how they did it in the middle ages :P

  20. I'm a bit diapointed by the voting rate! :( What's the fun of winning or competing if you know that only a few people took the time? I'd like to see 50plus votes sometime!!!!

  21. I'm going to use what you're saying to ask my question again to the moderators. Have you definitively stopped adding models into specific collections or that's just a temporary decision ? I guess I've already got the answer by looking at the last collection's date (03/13/09), by we never know !
