Hangar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A hangar is a closed structure to hold aircraft or spacecraft in protective storage. Most hangars are built of metal, but other materials such as wood and concrete are also used. The word hangar comes from Middle French hanghart ("enclosure near a house"), of Germanic origin, from Frankish *haimgard ("home-enclosure", "fence around a group of houses"), from *haim ("home, village, hamlet") + gard ("yard").
Hangars are used for: protection from the weather, protection from direct sunlight, maintenance, repair, manufacture, assembly and storage of aircraft on airfields, aircraft carriers and ships.
For this challenge: You are free to design your hangar for any type of aircraft you choose, These structures can be very simple in design so it is your job to make your hangar stand out from the rest.

Note: Due to the release of the new 3D Warehouse on Trimble's servers, I am asking that participants to help me and voters identify their models by putting their name in the title of their model.

For example: If your name in the 3D Warehouse is "JediCharles" and you want to name your model "Millitary Aircraft Hangar", then prefix the name of your model like this "JediCharles: Millitary Aircraft Hangar".

Standard Participation Rules apply. Thanks to Ghost for suggesting the topic of this challenge. Have a suggestion for an upcoming topic? Submit one with your next vote.

Wind turbine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy from the wind into electrical power. A wind turbine used for charging batteries may be referred to as a wind charger.
The result of over a millennium of windmill development and modern engineering, today's wind turbines are manufactured in a wide range of vertical and horizontal axis types. The smallest turbines are used for applications such as battery charging for auxiliary power for boats or caravans or to power traffic warning signs. Slightly larger turbines can be used for making small contributions to a domestic power supply while selling unused power back to the utility supplier via the electrical grid. Arrays of large turbines, known as wind farms, are becoming an increasingly important source of renewable energy and are used by many countries as part of a strategy to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.
For this challenge: Although wind turbines share characteristics with windmills, in this challenge we are concerned with wind powered electricity generators. Your turbine can work on either a horzontal or vertical axis and sky is the limit for the size based on the desired power output.

Note: Due to the release of the new 3D Warehouse on Trimble's servers, I am asking that participants to help me and voters identify their models by putting their name in the title of their model.

For example: If your name in the 3D Warehouse is "JediCharles" and you want to name your model "Amazing 3D Printer", then prefix the name of your model like this "JediCharles: Amazing 3D Printer".

3D Printing
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
3D printing or Additive manufacturing is a process of making a three-dimensional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model. 3D printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes. 3D printing is also considered distinct from traditional machining techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cutting or drilling (subtractive processes).
For the purposes of this challenge you may model and existing printer or design your own. Although not a requirement, you are encouraged to show the printer in the process of printing an object of your choice.

Telescope
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A telescope is an instrument that aids in the observation of remote objects by collecting electromagnetic radiation (such as visible light). The first known practical telescopes were invented in the Netherlands at the beginning of the 17th century, using glass lenses. They found use in terrestrial applications and astronomy.
Within a few decades, the reflecting telescope was invented, which used mirrors. In the 20th century many new types of telescopes were invented, including radio telescopes in the 1930s and infrared telescopes in the 1960s. The word telescope now refers to a wide range of instruments detecting different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, and in some cases other types of detectors.
For the purposes of this challenge you are free to model and design any known type of telescope. This includes optical, radio, X-ray, infrared, ultraviolet and many others.

Pagoda
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A pagoda is the general term in the English language for a tiered tower, built in the traditions originating in historic East Asia or with respect to those traditions, with multiple eaves common in Nepal, India, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Burma and other parts of Asia. Some pagodas are used as Taoist houses of worship. Most pagodas were built to have a religious function, most commonly Buddhist, and were often located in or near viharas. This term may refer to other religious structures in some countries. In Vietnam and Cambodia, due to French translation, the English term pagoda is a more generic term referring to a place of worship, although pagoda is not an accurate word to describe a Buddhist vihara. The modern pagoda is an evolution of the Ancient Nepal stupa, a tomb-like structure where sacred relics could be kept safe and venerated. The architectural structure of the stupa has spread across Asia, taking on many diverse forms as details specific to different regions are incorporated into the overall design.
For the purposes of this challenge you may design your own pagoda or model an existing design. Your pagoda must have at least three tiers.

Unmanned aerial vehicle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as drone, is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. Its flight is controlled either autonomously by onboard computers or by the remote control of a pilot on the ground or in another vehicle. The typical launch and recovery method of an unmanned aircraft is by the function of an automatic system or an external operator on the ground.
For the purposes of this challenge, you are free to model an existing drone or design your own from your imagination. You can use any type of aircraft design as long as it has no pilots or passengers and can be operated autonomously, remotely or both.

Bell tower

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A bell tower is a tower that contains one or more bells, or that is designed to hold bells, even if it has none. In the European tradition, such a tower most commonly serves as part of a church and contains church bells. Modern bell towers often contain carillons.
The Italian term campanile, deriving from the word 'campana' meaning bell, is synonymous with 'bell tower'; in American English it tends to be used to refer to freestanding bell towers.
A bell tower may also be called a belfry, though this term may also refer to the substructure that houses the bells rather than the tower as a whole.
For this challenge you are free to design your own or model an existing bell tower. The one exception is that it must NOT also be a clock tower in respect to Challenge #056 - Clocktower (I won!).

Rocket
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle that obtains thrust from a rocket engine. Rocket engine exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before use. Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forward simply by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast.
What better way to rocket into the New Year than with a rocket challenge? You are free to design or model any type of rocket you choose or even invent your own kind of rocket. Rockets are often smooth and sleek so you are further challenged to add details to your rocket from the rocket motor to the cone. Feel free to fulfill your space travel fantasy or model something from history; it's totally up to you.
