SketchUp 3D Challenge #225: Merry-Go-Round

Monday, 23 November 2015 - Sunday, 6 December 2015

The Merry-Go-Round, also known as a Carousel or a Roundabout, is a popular amusement ride typically involving the riding of wooden horses over a rotating platform. Prior to the mid-19th century, the horses were mounted to chains and would fly out from centrifugal force. (What could possibly go wrong?) The activity actually evolved out of a combat preparation exercise for horsemen in the middle ages, believe it or not. Modern Merry-Go-Rounds also include seats and benches in addition to the horses.

For this challenge you are to model a Merry-Go-Round (rotate clockwise) or a Carousel (rotate counter- or anti-clockwise) of either the platform or chain-suspended variety.

Standard Participation Rules apply. Thanks to Sketchmaster Tóth for the challenge suggestion.

Reminder: Participants in challenges are now required to vote when the challenge is over. This is to encourage the community aspect of the challenge by giving the other participants feedback on their work.

Note: All challenges going forward will start on every other Monday, run for two weeks and end on a Sunday. Voting period will begin at 5PM PST/PDT on the last day of each challenge and will end on the Thursday before the next challenge begins. This change is to make the challenges more efficient to administrate.
