  2. Just finished my wooden toy. I got right on it because I'm going to be away from the computer for a while. This is my first attempt at trying to list for this forum. I hope it's correct.

This is the URL on 3D warehouse. Would someone try it and let me know how it works. Thanks
I'm the Don in the listing.

  3. All right! So-just to confirm (i made a mistake with the previous challenge)-you create the model, upload it to the 3d warehouse with tag "3d challenge 002", then post a link to it in this comments section? In the previous challenge I think I forgot to post the link in the comments section of the post. Thx,

  4. Hello. I just completed my first SketchUp project, a wooden toy fire truck. It is at http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=953dad33689d4c339fd98f69b4e5ae4e.

  5. Hello all,

I guess the wooden fire truck seems to be an all time favorite. Good to see some submissions so fast after the begin of the challenge. Remember that you may improve your model until the deadline if you want to.

    A note for everybody:
If you want to create a clickable link on the blog to your model in the warehouse, here's how to do it:

    [a href="warehouselink"]linkname[/a]

    * Replace the [ and ] by < and >

warehouselink = url from your model on the 3D warehouse
linkname = the clickable text on the blog

@rbedi100: This is not a problem, that's why you have to put a specific tag in your model. This way we can find all submissions to the challenge if somebody forgets to post a message on the blog. Of course we want everybody to post a message so everybody knows about your submission.

@Don & Claudia East: You didn't add the "3d challenge 002" yet in the warehouse. You can still add that by editing your model in the warehouse, as the owner you can do that.

  6. J-m@m, Thanks for the information on putting tag on my post. I would also like to try the short link. I understand about making the programing language change. However can you tell how to get to the spot where I can make the changes. I'm not a programer, But am always ready to learn.
    Thanks Don

  7. Hello Don & Claudia East,

First of all, my previous post consist of two different notes. The first one tells you how to create a link on this blog to your model on the warehouse without seeing the complete url, like this:

model of Don & Claudia East

The second note to you personal was about adding the "3d challenge 002" tag to your model. When uploading your model to the warehouse you need to add some information like name, discription, tags, etc. We would like everybody to add the tag "3d challenge 002" (for this challenge) to the form. If you allready uploaded the model you can still change this information. Go the the page of your model by following the link above. Make sure you are logged in at the right top of the screen. Now, above the large image of your model there should be the option "edit". Click on it and add the line "3d challenge 002" in the box below "tags" (without the ""). Click on update and you're ready and we are happy ;)

    Good luck

    J-m@n

  8. Friends, I feel the need to make an emphasis here about the required tag in your models. It should be something like this:

    3d challenge xxx

The x's are to be replaced with the current challenge the model pertains to. Our current challenge is 002. The reason for this is that it makes it easier for us all to find the models in the Warehouse (which is already a quite large repository).

    ReplyDelete
  13. @rbedi100,

On the frontpage of the blog there will be a poll to vote for the models. You can vote in this poll until the next challenge (this one) ends and the winner automatically appears in the poll.

  14. Hay everyone, Way cool things are starting to show up. Can't wait to see all the entries. I guess the kid will last in all of us forever. I've had two new ideas pop into my head. Is it Ok to enter more than one entry?

  15. Hello All

  20. Hello rbedi100,

I know there are no new polls yet while there should be a voting poll and a new subject poll. Remember that for the moderators this whole blog thing is also new. We also have to figure out how to proper manage this, so the first challenges might not be as smooth as we hope they should be. Concering the polls it looks like I don't have the proper rights to change them. We will discuss about this in the moderator team and hope to find a solution fast...

  23. Hello all,

Because of a wrong setting on the blog some comments were put on hold and needed approval by admins before being posted. No messages were lost but just not posted until approved. All settings should be OK now and all comments on hold were published.

@Jon: You made a very nice car there, way better than my airplane... don't forget to put the proper tag to your model ("3d challenge 002", without the quotes).

  25. Hello all,

As you might have noticed we're having some problems with the polls. To give everybody enough time to vote for the next challenge subject and a winner for the previous challenge we extended the deadline of this challenge with one week. The new due date for this challenge will be Aug. 22. The next challenges should last one week as normal again.

You can do this by going to your model while signed in, and clicking the edit button beneath the title. Then add the tag: 3d challenge 002

    thank u very much!!! :)

  34. Hello exwhyzed

The link you supplied in your posting is fine and anyone can copy and paste it to get to your model.

j-m@n has a posting (7 down from the top) that explains how to make a clickable link.

    From j-m@n's posting....

    [a href="warehouselink"]linkname [/a]

    * Replace the open and close brackets [ with an open and close carrot < as shown below.

    [ and ] by < and >

warehouselink = url from your model on the 3D warehouse
linkname = the clickable text on the blog - this could be called "My Model" or whatever you want to have show on the blog.

Give it a try and delete it if it does not work. Again, as j-m@n mentioned above, any trouble and we will assist. It should work like this:

    Model by exwhyzed

You can also make a link to the picture you have using the same method.

  37. Just a note - there are a couple model that are not tagged correctly. The 3D Warehouse tags are case-sensitive, so "3D challenge 002" and "3d challenge 002" are not the same tag.

Also, the correct tag is "3d challenge 002", not "3d challenge #002" - check your tags (randy and don!)

  40. Lot of fun entries this week, but this is a fun topic. Personally I could probably enjoy making wooden toys in SketchUp for many weeks, it's just one of those topics. In any case, here is another WIP that probably won't be finished. (sigh).

challenge nomenclature. Would have been a shame to have gotten as far as I have without completing the process!

  42. There are still some details that could be added, but this is as finished as it's going to get for now. Probably more detail than need be for a wooden toy, some of the other toys everyone has submitted are fantastic for really looking like solid wood toys. Kudos all around, looking in the warehouse shows a lot of really good entries.

  45. Hello all,

The voting poll is online and here are all the submissions for this challenge. Watch them all before voting for the one you think is the best. Remember that it's the quality of the model that counts, not a fancy color (turn textures of when judging a model).

i'm just wondering as to why the winner had been disqualified..?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hello rabbeltje,

The entry of 3d challenge was "disqualified" by request, as it was not supposed to end up in the voting poll. By mistake it did end up in the poll and we were unable to delete it without losing all other votes.
