3D Challenge #020 - Windmill
Note: Please read the guidelines for participating in the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to have fun and bring SketchUp users together and help each other learn and get better at using our favorite 3d modeling program. We will remove comments that are objectionable or offensive.
This week's challenge:
Windmill
This week we are going to use the power of the wind by creating a windmill. Windmills exist all over the world in all kind of sizes, shapes and for many applications. During history, this force of nature has been used to pump water, grind grain, saw wood and to produce electricity in the modern windmill generations. As usual you are free to choose the design and application of your windmill. You can use one of the mentioned applications or create a new one yourself.
Good luck ALL!

Attention ALL
ReplyDelete1) The last challenge had 10 models missing from the blog. It IS part of the rules to post the model in the warehouse as well as on the blog. It is becoming very tiresome to track down the models and add a link especially when I have to create 10 of them. The rule will be “NO BLOG ENTRY – NO VOTING POLL LISTING”. There are repeat offenders to the rule and even with a note and private message sent via warehouse to post on the blog, this goes without action on your part. Newcomers to the blog will be given a period of time to adjust to the rules and blog navigation, and will be sent a message via warehouse to post (this will be per Moderator team discretion). So PLEASE post your model link on the blog.
It is not just a challenge, but a community of people from around the world joining together to share ideas and concepts on using SketchUp and developing skills of achieving the same task in multiple ways.
2) PLEASE don’t name your current models “Windmill” and leave it at that. Last challenge had multiple “maglev” entries (even though a posting was made asking not do as such), and you take the chance of having your vote being cast on another’s model. So, please try to be unique with naming.
Thanks

probably going to do some more work on it later today. Can i update the model on warehouse directly or do i have to just delete it and re-upload? also if i do that will i have to re-link to it here? So many questions!
Crits and comments welcome
tharle
Hello Tom
ReplyDeleteNo, you don't need to delete and re-upload to revise a model. Just use the share model like you did the first time you uploaded. All your previous info should be already filled out. If it is not, see the "3D Challenge participation manual" located in the helpful links section on the front page of the challenge blog (Upper right hand corner). The last 2 pages explain how to fix the problem. If you need further assistance, Please feel free to ask.
Very nice looking model !!!

Well I had a really complicated machine in my head, but the holidays are here so I can't sped much time on it.
ReplyDeleteso here is a silly machine, made to rock a rocking chair and power a reading lamp.
auto-rocker
if I had the time it would have had many more gears and gadgets, oh well.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!!

ReplyDeletePlease stop 'rating' my models if you want to talk to me; I think this is a better place to discuss things than the warehouse.
About components: You didn't make any except the text. You simply made groups. Do you really want to pretend you made the stairs and the sphere? They are identical to SU-Components!
And there's nothing like "component krap!"; components are a key feature of SU and it's quite important to use them properly. So it does matter.
About cleanup: There are a lot of lines that are absolutely unecessary; and many things, e.g. the handrail an the tubes around the platform don't fit together at all.
So there is no way for me to give you more than 2 stars.
BTW: the weirdness of your Wind-Hill was the only thing I really liked except your penguin; the penguin is good, but you modelled it a month ago.
For some time now a can't add models to some of my collections because they don'y appear on my list i thought it was maintanence but it has be about 2 weeks now and if i click on my collections they're all there.Does anyone have simillar problems and knows what is going on?
ReplyDeletePS none of my collections have reached 1000 models which i heard is the limit.
Marian-
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem so I made the same collection and put all my models in the collection like my first collection. It's called "Portfolio 2".
I haven't posted a model for this challenge in a while! I thought I'd do something up for this challenge. I'm on vacation in Austrlalia, so I had some time!

Enjoy Don
Also Happy Winter time
Woohoo! I'm done. Would like to have added the wind vane, but ran into many technical difficulties as I could not find a good picture of the top-back of this style of windmill and had to make up the mechanisms.

Chesterton Windmill
ReplyDeleteThe Chesterton Windmill stands at the top of Windmill Hill Lane in Warwickshire, England. It was built in 1632.
I've modeled it pretty much as it stands today. The arms are in place, but there are no sails.

FINAL NOTICE - NO BLOG ENTRY - NO VOTING POLL LISTING!!!
Only reason they are being added this week is there are a few newcomers to the challenge and I did not get time to send a message Via warehouse to tell them to post. The repeat offenders already know the rules and will not be included in the voting without a blog entry.
THATS THE FINAL WORD ON THE SUBJECT!!!
