  1. General Notes:
    There will no obligation for a blog entry anymore. It is still allowed to post a link to your model or additional images, but it is not required anymore to submit a model to the challenges. The 3D Warehouse tag is still required though and should be added when uploading a model to the Warehouse.

    You can use the hyperlink code creator on the frontpage of the blog to create the code for a hyperlink in your message. Copy this code and paste it in the comment box on the place where your want the hyperlink to be.

    Challenge suggestions are welcome to be placed on the blog. Items will be noted and compiled on the moderator’s list. At that point, the initial comment for the suggestion may be deleted so as to maintain a streamline challenge thread for use of posting entries for the challenge and comments to models. Challenge suggestions have always been welcomed and taken under consideration.

    Please refrain from using background images in your models as it is the model itself that is being judged.

    You'll notice a new link on the main page that directs you to the First Place Certificate area to which winners are able to print a certificate with a picture of their model detailing their excellence. You can access the page through the main page of the blog.

    Good Luck and have fun!!!

    This week is not so much fun! Well, Sketchupwise it was, but the subject this week isn't!

  4. I don't really like this challenge, after the cellphone, the camera, there's the cordless phone. Though if people could have fun with it, it's still great !

    Two of my propositions : A factory - A lighter .

    ReplyDelete
  5. well i had fun with it,but then again i am new to this
    and if you all are wondering, no i do not have a phone like this haha all from memory =P

    an idea for an upcoming challenge if it hasn't been done - somekind of power tool might prove challenging

  6. I forgot to add in my logo - just my initials it's premade is that allowed? and if so can i edit my entry ?

  12. @randommodification...I think it was you but you said to add components so i did! Hope you like it more now! lol

  13. @TD2013,
    Thanks, much better. i liked the pics, looks almost identical to the real thing!

    ReplyDelete
  14. @TD2013;

    "Nice big screen and the phone is excellent. You've improved!"

    Oh please, sh up! I know i'm a much better SKPer than you, and do i have to remind you that you lied and cheated the previous challenge?! If you made yours yourself this time, than YOU are the one that has improved... And i also need to add that your rating realy doesn't make any sense, cause last time with my Canon u said it just was a simple model with a picture on it and anyone could make this, believe me, it was a more complex model than this simple one. This is just a picture on some curves.... If for me, you don't have to say anything, please ;) Try entering as much models of your own as i did, than we'll talk.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I really don't know what to say

    @randommodification
    -Thanks for looking at the pics, i hope others do. I was happy reading your comment until i read the next one!

    @DesignsbyALX
    -Umm...does your comment really make any sense? You clearly stated that i said you improved and yet...you still get mad at me. I clearly stated i was having a fresh start and you also admitted you use a bunch of pictures in your models. Also i dont like coky people. You said "i'm a much better SKPer than you" Since i had a fresh start i am starting to get one enemy(i wonder who?). So i ask everyone, does alex's comment make any sense?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I might reconsider my vote and rating for designsbyALX's phone!

    ReplyDelete
  17. @dracoscove
    -Thanks for the 5 stars. I kind of thought that about the base put it is still classified as a home/cordless phone. Nice question though.

    @designsbyALX
    -Your right. the spot under the keypad isn't right. It's actually part of the base, i kind of incorperated it into the keypad so it's not all an exact copy of the real thing.
    (P.S. You spelt Verizon like Verizone)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Guess i was anoyed by YOU saying that I have improved.... please :(
    I looked arround in your collection, but it was all rubicubes and a lame pacman... sorry! But you're in the right place here, you can still learn a lot. (btw, what's your age?!?)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm going to take part of this conversation, I just have to say that I totally understand the Alex's behaviour, the fact that you've dared to tell me my kitchen was too simple compared with what you've done... I simply think you're not in a good position to criticize the models... So I can understand how much it's irritating to hear one's model is not good enough from you ! Same feedback for you pointing out to alex that he has improved himself ...

    Though if you haven't stolen your model it's good and it's your best one so far.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Moboille, that's EXACTLY what i mean!

    ReplyDelete
  21. @designsbyALX
    -I don't have that much to learn, i meen i used to like rubiks cubes look at the date those are all old and crappy. The pacman took like 30 seconds. So please look at my newer stuff! Oh and i will say i am atleast under 18. I'm not an adult for a while.

    @Moboille
    -How is saying someone improved critisism?

    @Henkie Tenk
    -Yeah i couldn't really get the shape perfect. I tried to change it but sketchup wasn't cooperating! I hate when that happens! lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. @TD2013

    I am the first to say criticism is so helpful but you aren't in a good position. Take as example...
    You take the liberty to say my kitchen is a little too easy but if you have noticed, my kitchen contains a microwave among some other appliances, take a look at it apart here
    . Next look at your model. Your model is worth as an entire one whereas mine is simply a DETAIL among lots of other. And according to me mine it's better than yours... so I think if a single detail of mine kitchen looks better than your whole model ... So if my kitchen has to be rated 3 stars, how many stars does your models deserve ?

    I want to have troubles with nobody, but I'm just quite irate when seeing you rating the kitchen whose I've taken the time to work on.

    PS : I had left you a comment about it on your microwave last week.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @DesignsbyALX and vampires

    did you even download the model?

    because

    It has one...

    cloudedzero

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yours, i didn't, but i see its a picture... Should i change my rating accordingly?! For some people i look OVER the picture fact, cause i do it myself sometimes, and You normaly post your own stuff. Want me to be more critical than ;) ?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @All:
    I've been meaning to point out the fact that a lot of you still rely too heavily on textures as a mean to achieve detail in your models. I would love to see you all trying to steer away from that particular resource, since one of the goals of this forum is that you all be able to create highly detailed and very realistic models without textures as part of the detail. Furthermore, the use of textures seems to have been misleading when it comes to judging finished models.

    Cheers,

    Oz (partly off duty mod)

  28. The personal attacks are really uncalled for. You know who I'm referring to. This is supposed to be a friendly challenge and should stay that way. There are enough bad things going on in the World, we don't need more of it here.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Jedi Charles
    your phone looks great... but when i click on it on the 3d warehouse or use your link it says it doesn't exist. did you remove it and then re-upload it or something? any ways i'll see if it works tommorow.

    ReplyDelete
  30. thats funny...i was going to do another entry with that exact ID555 by Philips! lol i bet you found it by searching cordless phone on google or something becuase that's how i found it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmm, just killing time till next challenge ;) I edited my Rosie, Ferrari style. The F1car, i build and UVmapped it with Blender!

    My latest render

    ReplyDelete
  32. @randomofodication
    You must have tried right as I was reuploading it. I decided to darken the color of the phone to improve the contrast against the light grey fog. The phone is intended to be black but using pure black in SketchUp is difficult because the details get washed out. I compromise by using dark charcoal which allows the details to show.

    @TD2013
    Yep, I used Google image search and found it. I use image search for research everytime I'm about to model something. It's not always helpful though. Some things are just not photographed for whatever reason; like "cordless phone battery door" or even "remote control battery door". Then I realize I have 3 remotes and a cordless phone right by my computer for me to look at all along.

    I think the quality of the modelling of the handset was very good. I would have ranked the model higher but the bas station paled in comparison to the handset. Nice reflection effect.
